Though again seeing a group of people holed up in a bid to survive the onslaught outside, the tone and scope is very different. There are occasional shots where foreground elements appear soft, a by-product of Romero's extensive multi-angle shoot and all those zombies rolling about.

The overall UHD package is highly recommended for hardened fans and makes for an awesome addition to the 4K library.Instead, it dovetails with the wide colour presentation to
really emphasise Romero's diverse palette. The final audio commentary for the European version from Disc Three features the main cast: David Emge, Ken Foree, Scott Reiniger, and Gaylen Ross.

The subsequent US Blu-ray release from Anchor Bay also featured a Fast Film Facts trivia subtitle track, which is also absent. stereo mix has a slightly fuller sound given the more pronounced music, and the soundstage is perhaps a little wider than the Theatrical Cut stereo.Ana (Sarah Polley) sees her daughter and husband turned as she makes a frantic escape from her upper middle class, suburban development.

I’m not opposed to the idea of remakes, as many GREAT classic films are actually remakes of other sub-par or less desirable sources ( Ben Hur, Twelve Monkeys, The Thing), but I always approach them with a sense of trepidation and suspicions, as they are just as easily a rip-off without additional enjoyment as they are a new classic. In setting the film in a mall and watching how possessive and corrupted the characters get over their horde of ‘stuff’, Romero adds a healthy dose of satire surrounding consumerism. So little of Dawn of the Dead matters though, just an aimless zombie excursion whose best moments come during the introduction.They performed a full restoration and remaster of those elements while under the supervision and final approval by the director of photography, Michael Gornick. There is not much that can be said about Dawn of the Dead that hasn’t already been drawn and dissected. Inside the box, there is also a 156-page hardcover book featuring seventeen new essays, archive articles, an interview with Romero and tons of color photos from the production, merchandising and promotional material.
