About this deal
If a conductive grease was applied to an electrical connector, there is a distinct possibility that the user will be introducing further problems and complications. I found this interesting chart of specific manufacturer of lubricant materials and I wonder if it is universal or only specific to this manufacturer.
Your main goal is to prevent oxidation and corrosion of contacts with damaged plating and Vaseline is as good as anything at that job. Use 8481 when you want a lubricating grease that provides great electrical contact and extreme environmental protection. We use vasseline all the time on connectors to get a better signal, especially on non-gold plated contacts.
This electrical conductive grease utilizes an advanced silicone lubricant that is compatible with metal, rubber, and plastic.
In this case study we will focus on an Electronic Parking Brake (EPB) switch lubrication application; sometimes EPB devices are referred to as E-Brake. Ideally a connector grease is used as a preventative maintenance action, it’s also a dependable fix for an ‘in service’ problem where it is possible to issue a service bulletin or other field service instruction for the relevant connector; this service bulletin could be accompanied by introducing the use of connector grease during the manufacturing stage or loom assembly stage of the harness/circuit.
Why not take a look at our article about how electrical connector grease works for reassurance and we also have a demonstration video. You can change your choices at any time by visiting Cookie preferences, as described in the Cookie notice. They are designed to lubricate and maintain electrical and thermal conductivity while providing protection against moisture and corrosion. I also have small electronic devices that require me turning batteries a few times to start functioning.
