About this deal

The Strawbridges documented their chateau journey for television, and even without having seen the series it's clear to me that they must have made good television. As warm and entertaining as their much\-loved show, A Year at the Château <\/i>is a truly irresistible story of adventure and heart, epic ambitions and a huge amount of hard graft. It takes you through every magical moment from the purchase of Chateau de la Motte Husson to the celebration of their wedding and Christmas. There is so much extra in the book that was never mentioned on the show and believe me I have binge watched many, many times.

I love the Strawbridge family and their values and have been rooting for them since the show first aired. La Petite Hostellerie is a quaint restaurant with an outdoor eating area which you can find at 35 rue de la Harpe, 75005 Paris. No missing or damaged pages, no creases or tears, no underlining or highlighting of text, and no writing in the margins. As warm and entertaining as their much-loved show, A Year at the Chateauis a truly irresistible story of adventure and heart, epic ambitions and a huge amount of hard graft. The Strawbridge family are an inspiration on how not to let stresses and strain get the better of you or each other.Taking this all in their stride and adopting the attitude of 'eating an elephant one bite at a time' to their huge renovation project, Dick and Angel have worked hard, and with amazing creative talent have created their dream home. I’m really interested in historic buildings and history so I guess I was hoping to get this out of this book but sadly I was wrong.

I would have liked a more "real" account of the struggles of owning and renovating a derelict château, managing a family and being essentially broke (their word).

A lot of the photos seem to focus on the couples wedding, even though it was beautiful and it is a focus on their business, I felt the readers probably wanted to see the progress of each of the rooms that were spoken about instead. The ups and downs, the budget overages, and the difficulties of doing all of this with two small children, Dick and Angel lay it all out on the table. Heartwarming, inspirational and beautifully narrated, just loved listening to them both narrating their own story, great to have more of a behind-the-scenes insight having enjoyed the TV show. Nature is described at its best and the couple literally plonk you right in the surroundings with them.
