About this deal

Oh there is the inclusion of Huron BlackHeart the Tyrant and it was interesting to see that every chaos space marines present on that reunion bow to him. Honour among Fiends' by Dylan Owen is the fourth story of the collection and is easily one of the best in the book. One Hate' by Aaron Dembski-Bowden - Crimson Fists aid the Imperial Guard while on a mission of their own. Finally One Hate is a rare example of an Aaron Dembski Bowden story that doesn't hit the mark, the crime in this case being that it's not very interesting. Dass aber die Astartes als unfähige Deppen dargestellt werden, die allenfalls gegen ein paar Orks, nie aber gegen das Chaos gewinnen können passt nicht zu "Heroes of the Space Marines".

But this is a really good intro to many of the series the Black Library has going, so it's worth reading just for that - assuming you have any interest in the 40K universe, and if you don't why are you reading this anyway? Not too much to say, just some very fun action involving some rather brutal Black Templars and their friends in the Sisters. Fires of War' by Nick Kyme is easily the longest of the stories included in this book and although I feel that the story is somewhat overlong, it is nonetheless quite good.My favourite of the stories was the one centred around the betrayal of the Avenging Sons third company. Outside of that story, none of the others really stuck out in my mind and that story is really the reason for my rating.

Es müsste eigentlich "Heroes and Renegates of the Space Marines" heißen, denn ein großer Teil sind Geschichten über die Chaoten oder Renegaten. Each of these warriors are draped in decorations and honours befitting their elite status, and can be built with bare heads or helmets.

The characters are good, especially Chaplin Argo who is a nice departure from the usual fire and brimstone Chaplains that you usually get. As much as he enjoys such hunts, he also despairs at his personal, seemingly eternal role in the Long War, apparently blinded to the easy way out by his Chaotic masters. In my opinion only 3 of the short stories are really worthy of the subject matter, and 2 of them are almost exactly the same. The final story in this collection is `One Hate' by Aaron Dembski-Bowden which although good is something of a retread of `And They Shall Know No Fear. I believe the 8 I mentioned are good enough for even non-40k fans to read; pulpy, war-torn sci-fi reading!

This multipart plastic kit builds a Space Marine Captain and four Company Heroes to accompany him into battle. Each of the stories follows marines of either the Imperium or Chaos as they fight their foes and complete their missions. All of those are the heroic Space Marine fluff style stuff that makes me want to die a hero, and that is exactly what I was looking for when I cracked the book.

I don't know much about Salamanders and I couldn't connect with this tale because I didn't understand that much about them. Honour Amongst Fiends by Dylan Owen never got going; and Fires Of War by Nick Kyme was as utterly boring as anything else he's done. Weiterhin ist ein Auftakt zur neuen Salamander-Story (recht lang und gut) enthalten, eine Motorradjagd mit den Imperial Fist sowie ein Team Up der Black Templars mit den Sororitas. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average.

The Skull Harvest' by Graham McNeill - Chaos warbands, including the Iron Warriors who show up in other books, fighting in some sort of competition. The first story `The Skull Harvest' by Graham McNeill, sees the Iron Warriors Warsmith Honsou and his men compete in a tournament for the right to raise an army. From reading this, you'd think every third Space Marine was a traitor of some sort, rather than being the nigh-on unbreakable fanatics they're supposed to be. Die Geschichten sind von unterschiedlicher Länge und Qualität aber ein Kauf lohnt sich definitv für alle die Marines mögen - ob nun die "guten" oder die "bösen". As other commenters mentioned, the title does clash with a few stories, as some of them deal with Chaos Space Marines, who are hardly heroic!
